You can either welcome change or hate it. You can either consciously direct yourself into feeling positive in life or let yourself be swept into unexamined fear. As always, it's a choice.
It's also important to note that the expectation of these three kinds of pain – loss, process, and outcome – doesn't just arise in us when outside forces introduce a new change into our lives. They also well up when we choose to make a change in our lives. Let's say you finally decide to improve your health, and instead of your boss changing your career, you decide to do it.
You feel motivated, and you think, it's time to go on a diet, stop smoking, exercise regularly, and get a new job. Regardless of how pumped you are about making these changes, somewhere in your mind the pains of loss, process, and outcome will rear their ugly heads. You must be prepared to counter them.
To hold down these fears and gain momentum against process pain, you have to stop focussing on the painful effort required to change, and start focusing on the pleasurable experiences that will come from the process.
Today's Soul Wave...Changing the way you think of change may be the most powerful mindset shift you will ever make in your life. Begin seeing change as pleasurable and something that brings in new learning and growth no matter what. At this level, when you enjoy change, the charge in life really intensifies.
