This morning, I deliberately created a few minutes alone with each of my daughters individually and shared my gratitude with them.
To my darling eldest, I told her that in my gratitude moment this morning I was grateful for her graceful presence and her incredible patience. She calms many disagreements between her younger sisters and sometimes calms me when I get worked up and has always been known by her friends as the peacekeeper and peacemaker.
To my middle daughter, I told her that I am grateful for her beautiful voice - like a songbird - she has sung every single day of her life. I truly cannot remember a day since she started vocalizing that she didn't sing. I hope one day she allows me to post her using those heavenly pipes. She is also the #1 comedian in this family - very funny.
To my youngest, I told her I am grateful for her fire, her spice, her tenacity and how she stands up for herself and what she believes in. I know some parents would want to "tame" it out of their kids but I realize that one day, that strength and lawyer like thinking/debating is going to help her help the world. I will help her manage when she uses it. She is the #1 organizer in this house (brain for systems)
THE RESULT: Deep heart to heart connection with each child. Each daughter thanked me and I watched their energy shift into heart center. On top of that...each one just happened to have FABULOUS days at school filled with gratitude.
MORAL OF THE STORY: When you send some love and gratitude out to others, even with a few simple words, you can program their day and their mindset in a positive way.
